ABOUT the national archery in the schools program
Missouri NASP is coordinated through MDC and CFM in partnership with participating schools and numerous supporting organizations throughout the state. In 2020 the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and the Conservation Federation of Missouri (CFM) expect more than 3000 student archers at the Missouri NASP State Championship Archery Tournament. The Missouri State NASP Tournament is one of larger state archery championships in the US. More than 90,000 Missouri students in grades 4 to 12 from over 700 schools participate in MoNASP.
NASP is entering its 19th year in 2020. Since that time, more than 15 million student archers from over 15,000 schools have participated in NASP classroom archery instruction, presented by more than 35,000 NASP®-trained teachers and volunteer parents from 47 states and 13 countries. Over 2.5 million NASP student archers participated during the 2019 school year.
The NASP® National Tournament is held in May at Louisville, Kentucky’s Exposition Center. This NASP indoor archery range is the world’s largest at over 1/2 mile in length because it has to accommodate the world’s largest gathering of archers of nearly 15,000 students which maintains the Guinness World Record.
Thanks to the generosity of many NASP® sponsors, almost $250,000+ in scholarship awards was awarded at Nationals in the 2017 season.
World NASP® competitors include archers from United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Namibia, South Africa, New Zealand, Mongolia, Manitoba, Prince Edward Island, Australia, Egypt, Kuwait, Saudia Arabia, Emirates of Arabia, and Zimbabwe to the list of countries participating in the NASP program.
